Outgoing 109th AES commander pins new leader
Lt. Col. Georgeanne Johnson (right) pins her Air Force Commander?s Badge on Lt. Col. Penny Hodges-Goetz?s uniform after passing on the command of the 109th Aeromedical Evacuation. The change of command ceremony was on June 21, 2009 at the 133rd Airlift Wing?s dining hall on the airbase in St. Paul, Minn. Lt Col Hodges-Goetz takes command of the 109the AES after serving as the chief nurse for the 133rd Medical Squadron and has been in the military since 1990. Lt. Col. Johnson assumes her new position as the Deputy Commander of the 133rd Operations Group, 133rd Airlift Wing, Minnesota Air National Guard. Air Force Commander's Insignia is a badge of the United States Air Force which has been in existence since 2002. The pin is also known as the USAF Commander?s Badge. The Change of Command ceremony is a time-honored tradition which formally symbolizes the continuity of authority as the command is passed from one individual to another.
