Readiness Safeguard
Within minutes, Airmen of the 109th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron transformed the empty bay of a C-130 Hercules into a medical care facility capable of hauling wounded military members from the war zone to a hospital for treatment during an exercise at Volk Field, Wis. on May 13, 2009. Hundreds of men and women from the Minnesota Air National Guard unit joined others from Scott Air Force Base, Illinois for Readiness Safeguard in preparation for an Operational Readiness Inspection.
