C-130s and crew wait out a sand storm
AN UNDISCLOSED LOCATION IN SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Deployed Minnesota aircrew member, Senior Master Sgt. Jeff Rosenthal, stands in front of a C-130 "Hercules" waiting out a sand storm on June 2, 2012. He says, "This is a great place, but we are hit by sand storms on a regular basis and it affects operations in our location. Masks and goggles required. Covered in sand, in teeth, eyes, ears and nose. When you take a shower, the floor is covered in sand. Clothing is like sandpaper. Sand is really hard on the aircraft, in the buildings, rooms; there is no escaping.”
